HM Revenue & Customs

Inland%20Revenue.gif Yet another cock-up by the Inland Revenue. Today a letter came to my home - correct address including correct full postcode - to a "Miss R Petrovic".  This included poor Miss Petrovic's National Insurance number and her case number.  The letter is from the office of the Revenue's Northeast Metropolitan Area, Middlesbrough.  I have never heard of Miss Petrovic and she certainly has not lived at my address in the last 25 years during which time I have lived here.  Is there no end to the utter incompetence of the Revenue? Were I minded to I could now pose as this lady and be armed with her NI number.  I have rung and rung the phone number at the top of the letter but all I get is a recorded message saying all staff at the office are engaged on other calls.

I am an upstanding citizen wishing to point out the error.  But so far I have failed to alert the Revenue to their own mistake because they are all too busy to talk to me!
